A substantial antique English serving platter by J.H. Weatherby & Sons, produced in Hanley, England as part of the company’s durable semi-porcelain wares. This example features an elegant green transferware border of floral baskets, garlands and fine classical ornament, finished with a gently shaped scalloped rim and a generous open center.

The backstamp reads “Superb / Durability / J.H.W. & Sons / Hanley England / Semi Porcelain.” J.H. Weatherby & Sons moved to Hanley in 1892, and this style of J.H.W. & Sons Hanley mark was used before the introduction of Falcon Ware around 1925, placing the platter broadly in the late Victorian to early 20th-century period.
